Crafted in soft full-grain and top-grain leather that develops a rich, lived-in patina, Khonsa holds a slim, flexible silhouette. It is the A6 companion to the Nyinu A5 Portfolio Journal: the same architecture, scaled for the pocket and the palm. Mid-band elastic keeps the cover closed. A leather pen loop sits at the edge. Inside, elastic strings hold notebooks in place; dual-tone pockets keep cards, notes and a Scriptura kraft folder close at hand.
It is not about carrying everything. It is about carrying the right pages, well.
The name Khonsa is taken from the headquarters of Tirap in Arunachal Pradesh — a hill town of the Nocte people, and a geography the studio has walked, photographed and returned to. Like the place, the journal is small in measure and large in use: a daily companion built around utility, proportion and leather that ages with its owner.
Designed as a true everyday portfolio — pocketable, not precious. Khonsa balances access and form: open it on a desk, slide it into a Koshā bag, or keep it in the jacket pocket between shoots.
The pen loop holds a fountain pen or a workhorse rollerball. Binding strings let you mix a ruled booklet, a black-paper sketch pad and a Scriptura folder in one cover. Inner pockets take visiting cards, a SKINS card, tickets, negatives or a day’s receipts. The mid-band elastic closes the book without hardware that can scratch a camera or a table.
Khonsa is built for writers, photographers, travellers and anyone who still thinks on paper.
Crafted from carefully selected full-grain and top-grain leather that softens and deepens in colour with use. Natural variations in grain, tone and texture are part of the material’s character and ensure that every piece develops its own individuality.
Edges are cut, burnished and finished by hand. The cover is saddle-stitched. Strings, charm and pen loop are assembled in the Agra studio. Each Khonsa is independently packed in layers.
Like all SKINS leather pieces, Khonsa is intended to become more personal over time.
